Mount Kanchenjunga 8,586 meters is the third highest mountain in the world and the second highest peak in Nepal, located along the Nepal-Sikkim border in the Himalayas. Kanchenjunga is a mountain of the Himalaya range, located Eastern part of Nepal on the border of Sikkim and about 20 kilometers South of Tibet. It is one of the 14 mountains on Earth that are more than 8,000 meters high above sea level. With an elevation of 8,586 m the third highest peak of the world, after Mount Everest (8,850 m Nepal) and K2 (8,611 m Pakistan).
Kangchenjunga is the second least climbed peak of the 14 peaks over 8,000 meters, it is known as a Kanchenjunga, Kangchen Dzo-nga or Kachendzonga also. It was first climbed by a British team in 1956. It is an enormous mountain mass, and many satellite peaks rise from its narrow icy ridges. It was first attempted in 1905, but four members of those international parties were killed in an avalanche. The successful British expedition of 1955 set the standard by stopping a few feet short of the actual summit, in honor of the local religion.
